Land of the Dead Information

The new patch for WAR is around the corner, Land of the Dead, patch 1.3. There will be five new instances in the patch, including four Lairs and the Tomb of the Vulture Lord dungeon. There will be a new item set, the Tyrant Set, which can be gotten by from tokens and boss drops. You can read the full Q and A here.

Also remember that you can check out the new patch on the public test realm, and maybe even get your hands on some cool in-game rewards.

Warhammer Online Players Guide

Together with the Open Beta Client of Warhammer Online, there was released a basic players guide or manual for Warhammer Online. This guide includes basics like interface, combat, RvR, races and classes. It’s a very nice introduction if you are interested in learning more about Warhammer Online before the game is actually launched.

Just remember that it is a guide for beta, written in the early beta, and is both rough and probably inaccurate sometimes. However, there are a lot of information that surely will be very relevant when you start playing the game for real, and have the real manual in your hand. Even if you’re not in the beta, checking it out can be very useful. You can download it here from Warhammer Alliance. With seventyfive pages, I’m sure you’ll find something interesting to read.

Dates for open beta, pre-release and release ready?

According to Gamestop, there will be an open beta for WAR on September 3. till September 12., before the game is finally released on September 19. Also, there is a head start, or pre-release, of the game simular to what we saw with AoC, that starts on September 15.

Both the head start and open beta is open only for those who reserves or preorders Warhammer Online. Previously it was thought that some items was available only to those who preordered Collector’s Edition of Warhammer Online. Now it seems like preordering the regular version of WAR will also give you these items. The in-game item is Rittenbach’s Portable Camp and the Sentinel’s Amber Band. For a short time it was also said that Universal Fighting System Battle Deck was given to those with regular package, but that is now gone, so you probably have to get the CE to get that.

The minimum system spec that you should have to play Warhammer Online has been published in the Warhammer Herald. Please remember that this is minimum requirements, and not recommended.

Not as extreme as Age of Conan, but still quite close.

1UP preview of WAR

One of my favorite gaming-sites, 1UP, has written a previe of Warhammer Online after getting some hands-on time with the game. Read the full preview here.

They talk about how hard it is to preview a MMO game with about 20-30 minutes of playtime, but that WAR really have a system that makes this possible, the public quests system. These quests are easy to start with and will usually not take more than half an hour. A perfect system for those who just want to kill some time. There are about 300 such public quests scattered around the lands of Age of Reckoning.

Pre-E3 preview of Warhammer Online

There’s still a bit of time until E3, where we hopefully will get a stream of news about WAR, but IGN has released a preview of WAR before the convention.

Overall they think the game looks polished and good, which is good news for us gamers that are looking forward to be able to join the battlefield of Warhammer Online. You can check out the full preview here.
